Think cutting edge neuroscience meets ‘brain spa’
I believe the more trained a brain becomes, the parts made rigid from trauma are able to 'soften' - making empathy, connection, flexibility, resilience and relating much more possible.
Neurofeedback is science, through and through.
Though you can be forgiven for thinking this process is a little bit magic. Although the outcome of brain training can be enormously noticeable when compared to therapy alone, I can promise you the process is grounded in scientific research and is perfectly safe to use in combination with counselling and psychotherapy - or on its own.
Let me show you how.
What is NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback?
NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is the most advanced system on the market for harnessing brain training technology.
It does not diagnose or treat, but instead maximises the use of your brain’s natural resources.
NeurOptimal® has been used for nearly two decades logging over 3 million hours all over the world, and is the most advanced, time-tested, non-invasive, drug-free, and effective neurofeedback system available.
How does Neurofeedback work?
Similar to regular gym workouts for the physical body, Neurofeedback brain training works by providing frequent ‘exercise’ for new brain muscles. Much of the recurring thought process we allow to run in our minds are moved along, resulting in a brain free to tackle problems in a more open way.
Neurofeedback works like a mirror
promoting self-correction by monitoring brain activity then providing ‘feedback’ to the central nervous system about what has just happened. When the NeurOptimal® software detects cortical activity showing a phase state shift in the brain, the system sends an audible signal allowing the brain to reset and return to the present moment.
The benefits are abundant
Clients have reported:
• improved sleep patterns
• waking feeling refreshed
• increased mental clarity
• and heightened cognitive performance
The system is safe to use on both adults and children to help re-train the brain in cases such as:
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
• Effects of chemotherapy or other invasive medical treatments
• Sleep disorders
• Acquired brain injury
• Alzheimer’s and other loss of memory problems
• and Stress disorders
Neurofeedback can also be used to improve brain fitness and in age remediation and to maximise physical and mental performance
Our Neurofeedback Sessions
Sessions are conducted in a quiet space, sitting or reclining in a comfortable position. A neurofeedback training session is relaxing, enjoyable and typically lasts around half an hour. You’ll be asked to fill in a brief questionnaire describing your concerns and the changes you’d like to experience.
As the session starts, you will hear music play though headphones or surround sound. There will be will special sensors attached to your head that will feed your brain wave patterns into the NeurOptimal® program’s software. You will hear occasional “skips” or interruptions in the music – this is the signal that prompts your brain to “reset” and optimise itself. What you do during your session is entirely up to you: some just relax; read; some draw; some sleep, or just "zone out" while listening to soothing music.
At the end of a session, you will most likely feel less stressed and more mentally clear. It is unlikely you will experience any negative after-effects as NeurOptimal® does not artificially “push” the brain in any specific direction. Many users experience deeper sleep and vivid dreams after their very first session. The main point is that brain transformation with NeurOptimal® happens according to your brain’s own intrinsic wisdom, with no conscious effort required on your part.
Sessions are usually conducted once or twice a week for best effect and I recommend around 20 sessions all up to begin though most people begin to notice changes from the first session.
Neurofeedback heals the brain. Psychotherapy heals the mind.
Increasingly, I have seen neurofeedback to be a powerful stand alone training, enabling significant personal transformation. For those seeking psychotherapy, I typically suggest the process may be more beneficial to them, or 'potentiated' through the pathway of neurofeedback, at least in the initial stages; you could think of it as 'preparing the soil' before 'planting a new crop'.
Living Neuro Session Options
Combined Neurofeedback & Psychotherapy Consultations
1.5 hrs $ 120.00 AUD
In this consultation, we will get to know what has brought you to the training, and what areas you would like to see improvements - how neurofeedback works will be explained and you'll be asked to complete some forms in the first appointment along with having your 33 minute NeurOptimal® training session.
Psychotherapy focuses to a greater extent on achieving change in the personality or self. Often people notice that the nature of their personal difficulties is repetitive. Similar issues arise time and again in different contexts and relationships. Psychotherapy helps people achieve better self-understanding and change long-standing patterns of behaviour that may be disrupting relationships, work and study.
I take on a small, select number of clients at any one time, ensuring my services are person-centred and bespoke.
Individual Neurofeedback Sessions
1.0 hr $ 90.00 AUD
In this consultation, we will become attuned to track shifts and changes you are noticing as well as addressing any concerns that have emerged. Includes a 33 minute NeurOptimal® training session.
20 sessions recommended, normally weekly, tailored to your needs. Sticking with training will likely help you to experience more overall improvements and shifts.
Counselling & Psychotherapy Consultations
1.0 hr $ 110.00 AUD
A safe and confidential space to connect, deepen awareness and experience transformation - this is my commitment to you.
Together, neurofeedback and psychotherapy can create lasting change and recovery. Typically, starting with neurofeedback improves brain function so you can better engage in the psychotherapy process and make more conscious, healthy decisions for yourself in less time than with psychotherapy alone.
No referral is required.
Some after hours & weekend appointments are available along with phone and online counselling.

24 hr Cancellation Policy
We make every effort to accommodate clients’ differing schedules. While we can — and do — feel personally sympathetic to issues that can arise, you must notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you wish to reschedule your appointment to avoid bearing a 50% cancellation fee. This ensures the best opportunity for all clients to receive services and respects my time and livelihood.
Fees are due at the time of service by Cash, Card, Direct Debit transfer, or PayPal.
Concessions & Medicare
Aligned with my values to make brain training more accessible, if people have limited means, I like to talk with them about what their livelihood would support. If you are experiencing financial hardship, a chronic or serious health condition, you are a first responder, veteran or hold a concession card, and would like to learn about any available concession spots, please do get in touch.
Counselling, Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback are not yet covered by Medicare. One positive thing about that is that you don’t need a specific mental health diagnosis by a GP or a referral to participate in sessions.
